Mrs. Johnston
Welcome to Third Grade!
My name is Mrs. Johnston and I have been the third grade teacher at St. Benedict Academy since 2003. My first teaching assignment was fourth grade in Philadelphia PA. I then moved to NH where I taught third grade in Jaffrey, and preschool in Hollis. I volunteer in my local parish with various Religious Education programs. I was inspired to teach by my third grade teacher who helped teach me that you could achieve whatever you wanted in life. It was around then that I realized how much fun reading could be. I enjoy watching and helping children strive to reach their potential. I enjoy finding activities to challenge children as well as guide them to attain the knowledge to achieve their goals. Working in the Saint Benedict Community is a wonderful experience with a strong sense of family from everyone who is involved. I love the great support from parents who are a big part of their children's education.

My education has been in Catholic schools from Elementary school through college. I received my BA at Holy Family College in Philadelphia, PA with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Math. I have a MA as a reading specialist from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA.

I have been married to my husband Kent for 35 years. He has been a great supporter of my working at St. Benedict Academy as well as helping support our school mission when needed. I have a 27 year old son Matthew, who is married and currently serving in the U.S. Army in North Carolina. We have a large close family including nieces and nephews and their children who we frequently spend time with. In my free time I am usually reading several books, enjoy doing various needlepoint projects, and spend time outdoors.
You can contact me through my school email at kjohnston@stbenedictacademy.org,
a note in your child's daily communication folder, or call the school office at 669-3932.
I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you!
