Parent Resources
Below are a collection of resources for parents that I've found on the web and as apps that can help guide you through your child's media use. I'll be updating this throughout the year as I come across new sites/apps that I think are worth sharing.
Common Sense Media
This is a fantastic website that provides reviews for over 30,000 movies, TV shows, books, websites, music, video games and apps.
PYE's Facebook page. Lots of useful updates on new apps and websites and their reviews of them. Also, things to look out for with kid's internet and phone use and keeping them safe online.
If Xfinity is your internet provider, this is available to you as a phone app or website. While not perfect, it's a good start for controlling kid's internet use. With is you can set bedtime limits (internet turns off to selected devices during your set bedtime hours), monitor the amount of time they're using the internet, and instantly pause/resume the internet connection to their devices. It has a safe surf mode, but one thing it can't do, is restrict websites of your choice. You can though, log into your gateway device (modem) and block certain website there if you choose. Contact me if you'd like to know how to do this.
